Will Koshansky, Varsity Head Coach

Will is entering his second season as Head Coach at Staples HS. In 2019, Coach K's first year at Staples, the team finished with a 14-6 record and advanced to the CIAC Semifinals. He grew up on Long Island and went to St. Anthony's High School where he was a multi-sport athlete, playing lacrosse and running cross country and indoor track.  He went on to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a four-year starter at defense/LSM and a team captain. After graduating in 2012, Will played professionally for the Rochester Rattlers and Chesapeake Bayhawks for a total of seven years. He previously coached at New Canaan High School from 2013 to 2018, where he served as the program's defensive coordinator. Will is a director of Eclipse Lacrosse Club and currently resides in Norwalk with his wife, KC.  

     
 

Steve Anderson, Varsity Assistant Coach                           

This past year was Coach Anderson’s first year as an Assistant Coach on the Varsity team. He began as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at in 2016. He is also the Freshman Football Coach at Staples High School.  In addition, he coaches the PAL youth league for lacrosse, football and basketball.   He was an All FCIAC athlete himself for Trumbull High School for both football and lacrosse and continued playing lacrosse at the University of New Haven. In 2018, his first year as head coach, he led the Staples High School Boys JV Lacrosse team to an undefeated season! Steve lives in Milford with his wife Dana and their white golden puppy Maya.
 

     
   

Jon Marcus, Varsity Assistant Coach  

Jon grew up in Lynbrook on Long Island. He was a two-time HS All-American Goalie and multi-sport athlete also playing football and soccer.  After HS he went on to attend Johns Hopkins University where he had an incredible playing career. Jon finished his college career as the All-Time leader in saves, a record he still holds, with 877 career saves. He was a two-time USILA All-American and a team captain as a senior. Jon now serves on the Johns Hopkins Lacrosse Advisory Board, as well as the PAL Lacrosse Board. He was recently inducted into the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Hall of Fame and lives in Westport with his wife and three children.  

     
   

Colin Bannon, Varsity Assistant Coach  

Coach Bannon was born and raised in Westport and was also a former Wrecker, graduating from Staples in 2013.  In his senior year at Staples he was a key factor in bringing Staples to their first State Championship where they unfortunately fell short of the title.  Colin continued his lacrosse career at Endicott College, managing to start all four years at the attack/midfield position while becoming a three time All-American.  After becoming the second leading point scorer for the Gulls he attended the Van Loan School of Endicott College where he received his Masters Degree in Marketing and Sales.  Now returning to his hometown, Colin works primarily with offense at Staples as well coaches the Westport PAL eighth grade team.  

   
 
   

Eamon Griffin, Junior Varsity Head Coach

Coach Griffin has been coaching the Freshman Lacrosse Team since 2008. This year he will be once again coaching the JV team. He played varsity lacrosse, football, and wrestled in high school at the Hopkins School. As a senior, Coach Griffin suffered an ankle injury playing lacrosse and ended his competitive playing career. He has been coaching lacrosse at the youth and high school level since 2003. Coach Griffin teaches Spanish at Staples High School. Eamon currently resides in Fairfield with his wife Colleen and thier dog Murphy.

   
 
   

Robbie Milne, Junior Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Milne played both lacrosse and football at Shelton HS where he grew up. He lettered twice in both sports. He started his coaching career as the Freshmen Head Football Coach and Head JV Lacrosse Coach at Shelton HS. He coaches at Shelton for 5 years before coming over to Staples. He was a Varsity Football Assistant coach this fall and the Head JV Football coach as well. This spring he will be working with the JV Lacrosse program. He is also a para professional at Bedford Middle School in Westport.

     
   

Rich Courto, Freshman Head Coach

Coach Courto grew up in Syracuse NY and was a three sport athlete in high school. Rich played soccer, basketball, and baseball. He attended Elmira College where he played soccer. As a sophomore he walked on to the lacrosse team and fell in love with the sport. By his senior year he was selected captain by his teammates and coaches. After graduating from Elmira, Coach Courto attended Plattsburg State University where he earned an MS in Leadership Studies. Then he attended Central Connecticut State University where he completed his degree to become a physical education teacher. While finishing off his degree, he coached Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball at Cheshire HS. He is currently a Middle School Phys. Ed. teacher at Bedford in the Westport School District. He currently lives in Branford with his wife Kate and their daughter Sloane who was born in December 2018.

     
 

 

Owen Talboys, Freshman Head Coach

Owen grew up in Stamford CT where he attended Stamford HS where he played both attack and midfield for the Black Knights. He went on to play club lacrosse at the University of Colorado and while in college he helped run Boulder Valley Youth Lacrosse and coached at the YMCA in Boulder. Coach Talboys retunred to Connecticut after school where he spent two years as the Freshman Coach at Westhill HS. He also has coached youth lacrosse in Stamford for six years and coached one of his teams to Stamford's first ever CONNY championship.
